I’ve been consistently using Pilon for about 4 months and it’s quickly become my go-to for trigger point therapy. I used to use a lacrosse ball to dig into my hips and glutes, but the pilon simply does a better job - the wider base keeps it locked in place so I can get that sweet satisfaction of a muscle releasing without having to make micro adjustments to keep the ball in the exact spot.
Furthermore, it’s most beneficial use for me has been its ability to release my psoas muscles. My lacrosse ball could never get at those deeper muscles so I never really tried. Once Alex showed me how to get at those muscles it’s been a daily ritual for me and has helped me consistently stay on the field at 32 years old whereas in years past I’d always had to sit out a few practices or games due to back pain.
As I type this out, I’m sitting in the passenger seat of a car with the pilon wedged between my back and the car seat - Sweet relief!
If you are someone who cares about getting the most out of your recovery tools/ programs give Pilon a try - simply put it’s the next-gen lacrosse ball that does everything better.
